Regardless of what the dog “knows” it is important to have control during those times you need it most, such as under distraction.  Training is not accomplished with bribes, but with tapping into the dog’s motivation.   A dog cannot be reasoned with like a child would.  There is a different psychology involved, we can call it Dog Psychology.  A well-trained dog has a better life than an out of control dog with total freedom.  I have noticed something very interesting.  Dog owners have a different definition of what a “well trained dog” is.  What is Yours?

If you adopt a dog- You can expect:

-Certificate of Rabies vaccine, dewormed, free of parasites

-Spayed or Neutered, if not yet at an appropriate age they are adopted on a spay/neuter contract agreement.There are several clinics who do this at a low price, and Anti-Cruely neuters Pit Bulls for free.  Other low-cost neuter clinics are: Animal Care Leage in Oak park, and PAWS in Chicago.

-Adoption dogs differ- some are fully trained, some have no obedience training, and their fee differs, based on covering some of their vet costs.  The dogs care comes out of my pocket and my time.  Adoption dogs have small fees.  Sale dogs are dogs that I've put a lot of time into and trained to an advanced level.

-A home check to ensure a good placement for the dog.

-An agreement stating the dog must remain with you in your care permanently.  The dog cannot be given away, sold, or left at a shelter.  If you cannot keep the dog for any reason, or the dog does not work out for you, it must return to me, no questions asked.

 

Can I take your dog?

Probably not.  I have a lot of people ask me to take dogs, but I only have so much space.  I can occassionally take owner relinquishments or foster rescue dogs, depending on factors such as space and availability of foster homes.  However, I can help you find a good home for your dog, and give you tips, while YOU keep your dog.

He is UTD on vaccines and wormed, and is scheduled to be neutered.

AKC reg, Sire: PEDIGREE  Dam: PEDIGREE

He is housebroken, friendly, very active dog.  

He will go on long walks or play, then lay next to you while you sit on the couch. 

He is about 85-90 lbs.

Neutered, up to date on vaccinations, adoption to an approved home.
