If you adopt a dog from a rescue, (or if you are re-homing a dog yourself) you should expect:
-Certificate of Rabies vaccine, dewormed, free of parasites
-Spayed or Neutered, if not yet at an appropriate age they are adopted on a spay/neuter contract agreement. There are several clinics who do this at a low price, and Anti-Cruely neuters Pit Bulls for free. Other low-cost neuter clinics are: Animal Care Leage in Oak park, and PAWS in Chicago. Get a dog fixed before you adopt it out to anyone. By law, rescue dogs or shelter dogs must be fixed prior to adoption.
-Adoption dogs have small reasonable fees.
-A home check to ensure a good placement for the dog. Also to make sure you're allowed to have dogs where you live.
-An agreement stating the dog must remain with you in your care permanently. The dog cannot be given away, sold, or left at a shelter. If you cannot keep the dog for any reason, or the dog does not work out for you, it must return to the person re-homing the dog, no questions asked.
Can I personally take your dog?
Probably not. As a trainer, I have a lot of people ask me to take dogs, but we only have so much space. However, I can help you find a good home for your dog, and give you tips, while YOU keep your dog at your home. I am willing to help you find a suitable home, get the word out, and screen for a forever home. I do not breed or sell dogs.
